What you’ll need to get started

01.

Degree

You must hold a bachelor’s degree with honours class 2.2 or above from a UK Higher Education Institution (HEI), or an equivalent qualification. The UK National Information Centre for the recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skills (UK ENIC) can provide advice on the equivalence of overseas qualifications.

02.

GCSEs

English, Maths and Science GCSEs or equivalent qualifications at grade C/4 or above. A full list of accepted GCSE equivalent qualifications can be found here. We also accept equivalency tests from Equivalency Testing or A Star Equivalency. Please contact us if you are unsure if your qualifications are equivalent or to discuss your options.

School Experience

While not mandatory, gaining experience in a primary school, especially in Early Years or KS1, is highly beneficial. It provides valuable insight into the realities of teaching and helps you feel more prepared for the role. This experience can be voluntary or paid, such as working as a Teaching Assistant. Ideally, you should arrange this before applying.
